Uboa is the character that Uboachan was titled after. 4chan /jp/ discovered the game soon after, and contributed to various material and content that still lingers in Uboachan to this day, which was also created soon after the game's discovery. Originally being little known, Yume Nikki gained popularity over time in 2ch, and later gained following outside the Japanese web when an unofficial English translation was made. Since it's a Yume Nikki fansite/imageboard, many of the culture adheres to it and other RPGMaker titles. Uboachan is named after the titular "Uboa" character from Yume Nikki. In 2018, publisher Playism released the game on Steam, followed by a remake/reimagining by KADOKAWA titled Yume Nikki: Dream Diary Among those, are 'fangames', which try to mimic Yume Nikki's concept of exploring dream worlds and putting a spin on it. Yume Nikki is regarded as one of the most original and groundbreaking entries done on RPG Maker, and spawned a new genre of games denominated "walking simulators".
The game otherwise has no explicit plot, and is open to interpretation and head canons. The goal of the game is to explore Madotsuki's dreamscape and collect 24 'Effects'. Released in June 26, 2004, and last updated in October 6, 2007, Yume Nikki stars Madotsuki, a hikikomori who explores surreal locations and encounters bizarre creatures and imagery through her dream world.
Dream Diary) is a walking simulator made in RPG Maker 2003 by Japanese developer KIKIYAMA-HP. :)ĮDITED: Akuma is only in Spanish so a let’s play of that won’t be possible (yet).JYume Nikki (ゆめにっき, lit. So I’m giving the choice to you people, because from Monday 12th December to Monday 2nd January, I’m planning on doing 2 videos everyday of Yume Nikki fangames (asides Sundays). I want to give a let’s play worthy of the completion of Yume 2kki which is why I’ve put it on hold. These are the ones I’ve been looking at that I want to play, but I want you as a community to tell me which one(s) to play next, or if all of them, which order? Instead of me choosing, I want the lovely RPG Maker/Yume Nikki community to pick me a fan game to play, these can be games which are a few years old or new ones that have been recently released, thanks to I won’t have to look far to find fan games. What’s next while we wait (patiently of course!), what I’m really excited about with Yume Nikki community is that there are so many fan games of Yume Nikki to be, I bet Kikiyama is incredibly happy that so many people have taken inspiration from Yume Nikki to make their own games.
Until the time comes for the completed piece, there will only be the one video I’ve done so far. The second reason is the scale of the game itself and how gigantic it is, there are over 60 different maps to explore in the current version and most of which are massive that can lead down to becoming lost very easily very quickly.
When that time comes I will be able to provide a full let’s play of it without needing to go back and make a second let’s play series of it. The first and most important reason is that the game is still in development towards its completion, it’s unknown as to when the game will be fully completed. ~Tegan (FOG) game by photo by Marlaina Moulding Photography Yume Nikki Yume 2kki Cosplays morganelisecosplay Photographyįor two big reasons for now, I’m going to put my let’s play of Yume 2kki on hold. ~Tegan (FOG) game by photo by Marlaina Moulding Photography ~Dokutsuki (Broken Bottles) game by photo by E Martin Photography ~Chie (LcdDem) game by koronba, photo by Marlaina Moulding Photography ~Sabitsuki (.flow) game by lol, photo by Sun Suki ~Urotsuki (Yume 2kki) game by people of 2chan, photo by Bananzers ~Madotsuki (Yume Nikki) game by Kikiyama, photo by Bananzers The list could go on and on, I have many things I could name that have spurred from this game but…I’ll stop here for now, I’m going to try and get some new Madotsuki photos done today so watch out for those! If you want to see more I have a blog for that, also met some outstanding developers since I’ve started making my game. It’s a lot to go into, but I will tell you that it’s a non-traditional Yume Nikki fangame that’s heavily inspired by The Evil Within. I started making my own game called Spectrum. Obviously, if you can’t tell, I bit the Yume Nikki and fangame cosplay bug….and from that, I started to meet some developers and I’ve started to cosplay a lot from Indie games, I love it so much. Happy birthday Madotsuki! Although I only played Yume Nikki for the first time about a year ago (I played it during a camping trip, of all places I could play it), this game means a lot to me and more than a few things in my life have changed since I’ve played it. Wow, I can’t believe Yume Nikki is 12 today.
